Keeping Kids Safe Online

We previously discussed how to connect with your children within the digital age, but how do we keep them safe? How do we monitor the things they could be exposed to when there is so much out there and easily available? This week we discuss this issue, offer some tips from experts, and other advice we have found through our research. We know our children are a lot younger, but we try to discuss protecting all age groups.

Mom Guilt

This episode topic might be a touchy subject, but we feel that all moms have felt some type of “mom guilt” at certain points of motherhood. Whether it is an unorganized, messy house, long hours at the office, or missing a child’s practice or rehearsal, we all understand that nagging feeling in our guilt that says we are doing enough. Or we aren’t there enough. Or we aren’t good enough. Today, we discuss this and the psychology behind where “mom guilt” comes from. We also dive into some research that may prove “mom guilt” is not truly anything but a feeling that is society-driven and not personally-driven.

We do have a few laughs and a several serious moments as we discuss this topic.

Old Wives’ Tales

You have probably heard one before…”you can’t be having a girl, you are carrying too low” or “don’t cut a baby’s hair too soon, it won’t grow back”, old wives’ tales that have been passed down through generations. Do any of these “tales” have an ounce of truth to them? In this episode we cover old wives’ tales for conception, pregnancy, and taking care of infants and these tales are pretty funny. We also discuss some of their origins and whether or not they are completely false. Grab yourself a snack and drink and see if you have heard any of these before. Also, feel free to share any tales we didn’t cover by emailing us at motherhoodontap@gmail.com.
